Bird nest wedding cake toppers have been quite a favorite with my business especial for a garden wedding or a rustic wedding in a barn.This order came all the way from New Zealand!

Botanical art is making a great come back in both stationery as well as in art so I think these nests and more botanical art especially flora and fauna is going to make a big comeback this season and in the coming months! Great season for nature lovers some samples  from stationery I love below:

The bride saw my other bird bride and groom toppers especially the forget me not cake topper and ordered this,she wanted me to match her invite which is a botanical watercolor based invite with a beautiful garden woodland theme,unfortunately the bride wants to keep the invite a surprise so I am not sharing hers...

The birds sit in a handmade nest a great alternative to a fondant bird topper.The 3 layered painted cake in shade of oranges with sit atop another large nest.. gorgeous cant wait for the actual pictures to come back..

The flowers featured here are handcrafted lilies blue fillers and pettite forget me nots in white and orange as filler flowers with some berries to suit the invite.. Yasmin has such good taste that she directed me most of the ideas and it was an easy topper to make.

I have been trying to perfect my orange blossoms for a while and after tossing out many approaches
finally I have arrived with this one...in the process I am just enthralled at the design of the flower!
Orange blossoms are a well know addition for all vintage theme weddings after Queen Victoria adorned herself with it on her wedding day.

Orange blossoms are know to be a symbol of fruitfulness.I felt like I wanted a drink of cold blended orange juice after making this one!!

I have been busy with few orders that have needed to be shipped but mean while here are few pictures of the fall wedding I did earlier for Jayne.

feather wedding bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets

I had an order for a wedding bouquet using feather in all the bouquet.The colors the bride requested were gorgoeus! a bright orange and fushia and a pop of yellow with white feathers here is how it turned out.







The bridesmaids bouquets contian fushia dahlias,orange calla lilies,and white goose feathers and some dried yellow fillers for the yellow.The handle is wrapped in white and has a pop of pink to it.

The wedding party has a similiar flower in the corsages and the groomsmen get fushia roses and a stephanotis with feathers.


The wedding bouquet contains white calla lilies,white ostrich feathers

A orange blossom and stephantois weddiflower girl wreath I made a few weeks ago.
The wreath has my handmade orange blossom and stepanotis flowers with some velvet leaves.The wretah would be great for a 7 to 10 year old flower girl.
I am going to be having woodland wonder collection and this one is the first on the list.

For those awaiting the pictures sorry for the delay:-)Finally it's all done hopefully.

Now here is the order for Jenn,it was a much awaited order I was dying to do becoz of the lovely color scheme.Jenn had ordered her wedding bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquet in brightly colored flower.She sent me her invite and told me her theme were those colors.It was a challenge to get it right-in the end after a lot of mixing and matching I hope I got it right:-).Jenn was awesome and allowed me to change my mind a bit :-)

The bridal bouquet is below!!!


the brides maids hold hot pink dahlias,red mums,orangy yellow lilies and golden yellow daisies.All wrapped in red ribbon.









Check out the wrist corsages for the mom's :-) It has 3 colored flowers and I switched the ribbon to hot pink as the bright red was a bit too much on the eye..




The groom and dad's wear all the 4 flowers made into a boutonnieres accented with some velvet leaves.




The ushers have single flowers of the bridesmaids.


The aunts and uncles have an orange daisy finished of with hot pink ribbon and to spice it up I added a yellow rickrack tie to them.

I had an order for a orange blossoms to wear in the hair for a bride.They have turned out just lovely.The flower are on a short flexible stems which are wound onto a bobby pin.I was pretty intrigued by the flower that I did an search on google and here is what I got off the internet on orange blossoms:

Incorporating orange blossoms into the bride's costume originated in ancient China where they were emblems of purity, chastity and innocence. There are few trees so prolific as the orange; it is one of the rare plants that blooms and bears fruit at the same time, thus becoming symbolic of fruitfulness.

During the time of the Crusades, the custom was brought from the East first to Spain , then to France , then to England in the early 1800's. By then, many enchanting legends had spread throughout the continent of maidens entwining fresh orange blossoms into a bridal wreath for their hair. The influence became so indoctrinated into the culture that the phrase "to gather orange blossoms" took the meaning " to seek a wife". Even America became enthralled with the bridal orange blossoms.

The 19th century bride even decorated her gown with this symbol of fertility. But it was Queen Victoria who created the vogue for the sweet smelling blossoms when she wore them in a grand wreath for her 1840 wedding, and the classic floral theme for the Victorian bride was set. Ever since Winsor brides have taken care to tuck an orange blossom in their bridal ensemble.

I am making flowers for Nancy for her wedding.She ordered for yellow and orange poppies and red rose and what a head turner it's turning to be! I thought the combination wouldn't go well together but the moment I saw them together I knew I have a winning combination on my hand!
